Creating an Account and Opening the Application

  1. Head to http://home.lagoa.com, click ‘Sign Up‘ to create an account with Lagoa for free.
  2. Fill out the Sign Up form and hit submit, you will be directed to a window to create your first project
  3. Chose a template for your scene, the application will open up automatically
  4. Once in the application, you will be asked to complete the three-step startup wizard. Take note that you must complete the startup wizard, once you have completed it once all the way through you the pop-ups will no longer appear each time you create a new project.
  5. Be sure to click the ‘Render‘ button in the application – it will turn red when the rendering engine is on.
warning Be aware of supported browsers, Lagoa does not support Internet Explorer. If your default browser is IE, please close it and log into Lagoa using a supported browser. For the best possible experience, we recommend using Google Chrome.

 

Apply a Material

  1. Click on the circle icon in the Explorer Panel to open the Materials Menu. Here, you will see a list of existing materials already applied to the template scene.
  2. Using the overhead toolbar, click ‘Materials‘ and select a few materials from the drop down menu.
  3. Once the materials are selected you will see them appear in the Explorer Panel
  4. Using your Materials Menu in your Explorer Panel, drag & drop a material onto a mesh within your scene. Once you release your mouse, the material will be applied to the mesh.
  5. By clicking on each material, you can change the name of the material along with its properties using the Properties Panel on the lower right hand side of the screen.

 

Upload Your Own Model

  1. Click the blue ‘Upload‘ button on the left hand side of the application. We recommend uploading your 3D file via .zip format, click here to view all of the compatible file formats or hover overtop of the ‘Upload‘ button.
  2. Once the model appears in your Asset Panel, click ‘Open‘. Your scene with your Asset will appear as a new tab in your browser.

 

Adding a Community Asset

  1. Click on the cube mesh icon to see that the only model in your scene is your uploaded model.
  2. Using the overhead toolbar, click ‘File + Import Asset‘, the Asset Browser window will appear
  3. Type “Dragon” in the Search bar in the top left-hand corner of the window then, click on ‘Community‘. This is how you access the Lagoa community asset database.
  4. Select the 3D model named “Dragon” from our community Library, then click on the blue ‘Add to Scene‘ button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
  5. Your new dragon model will appear in your viewport and in your Meshes Menu of your Explorer Panel
neworangei Having trouble viewing your imported object? Select the mesh in the Meshes Menu of the Explorer Panel, this will highlight your mesh. Now use the manipulation tools (Move, Rotate, Scale), in order to make the mesh more visible.

 

Save & Download

  1. Once you are satisfied with your render save it as a 2D Image.
  2. Hover overtop of the ‘Render‘ button, select ‘Save Render‘ from the drop-down menu.
  3. Return to your Project Assets tab of your browser.
  4. A file containing a 2D image of your render will appear in the Asset Panel. On the right hand side, select the type of image you would like to download. 
  5. An image of your render will appear in your computer’s Downloads folder

 

Share Your Scene

  1. From your Project Assets tab of your browser, find your 3D scene within your assets
  2. Click on the Share button located to the right of your desired scene.
  3. A window will appear that allows you to share your scene with others
  4. Enter the emails of your friends, family members and colleagues, click ‘Send
  5. Your friends will be able to navigate your scene as a guest.
